Unboxing: Tamiya Yamaha TMAX with Rider Figure 1/24 24256

Today i’m going to unbox the Tamiya Yamaha TMAX in 1/24th scale with kitnumber 24256. And yes, this is something different!

The concept behind this Yamaha scooter is the NEC or New European Commuter. A combination of high cruising speed and convenience is what makes this scooter special. Liquid-cooled twin 2-cylinder 499cc engine is layed down flat, below the rider’s feet, central between the wheels. The TMAX boasts a 160km/h top speed. And what’s more, Yamaha has made every effort to make the scooter ride with the balance of a motorcycle. The weight distribution is 47% front 53% rear, much closer to the 50-50 balance of a super bike than any other scooter where the rear mounted engine puts excessive weight on the back wheel. With ample storage space under the seat, this scooter has excellent touring potential, and proves to be balanced, powerful, convenient and fun. Its unique form allowed the Yamaha TMAX to be awarded the 2001 Good Design price.

The Tamiya Yamaha TMAX comes in a small size box. On the front you see the finished model and on the side you will find different sorts of information about the Yamaha TMAX. This kit also comes with a driver figure as shown on the front of the box.

Let’s start the unboxing!

The first parts you see are the main body parts. This is a kit which you do not need to paint so every sprue is already in color. Tha aluminium parts are on their own sprue. Looks like a dull chrome paint. Very nicely molded!

The next sprues contains the frame, rims, seat and the wheels. The wheels on this kit are not from rubber but from plastic. Although they are from plastic, they look very good! Also some decals are provided.

The white sprues contain the driver figure.

A small bag with some clear parts. Again very nice molds!

The paperwork comes with some background information of the bike and of course the building instructions. These are typical Tamiya. Easy to read and clear instructions.
